The urban environment fascinates me. In my work I recreate scenes based on observations of people and places I see around me in my everyday life.
I have been inspired by figurative artists from Hogarth to Edward Burra amongst others. Also Japanese prints and work by the German Expressionists has been very influential.
My method of working is an eIntagio' printmaking technique called edry point'. When using this method, I escratch' in to a printing plate (metal/plastic) with a sharp pointed tool to produce a groove,in to which black ink is applied. The plate is then put through a press to produce the paper prints. Usually I hand colour and sometimes collage the resulting prints in small editions up to 25.
I have two presses one large and one portable, with which I also run printmaking workshops. Please feel free to get in touch to discuss possible dates and your requirements.
