Maureen Sweeney was born in London and London is a constant source of inspiration and imagery in her work. Her screenprints explore these images through line, photography and monotype. Maureen's carborundum prints show strong simplified images of The Capital.
Monotypes, frequently in vibrant colours , interpret the landscape of her travels .
Maureen studied art at Morley College, London, Wimbledon School of Art (Honours Degree) where she was awarded a post graduate year in Printmaking Postgraduate Certificate in art education. Maureen has taught art and printmaking in schools and adult education.
She has exhibited widely in the U.K. and abroad her exhibitions include Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, The Affordable Art Fair London, Originals, Mall Galleries, The Natural History Museum, The National Theatre, The Concourse Gallery, Barbican and The OXO Gallery, London. Maureen is a member of Greenwich Printmakers, Southbank Printmakers and committee member of The National Society of Painters, Printmakers and Sculptors.
